Should I have contact lenses?

Do you wear glasses? Would you like an alternative to your glasses, even if only occasionally? If you’re nodding, then then answer is yes, you probably should have contact lenses. It’s nice to be able to ditch your specs sometimes, whether it’s for sports, a different look or a decent pair of sunglasses. In fact for some prescriptions, contact lenses can actually be easier to wear than glasses.

Is it safe?

It’s as safe as you make it. Your optician will give you all the help and advice you need, and if you follow it carefully, the chances of anything going wrong are really very low. Today’s contact lenses and lens care products are the result of many years of research and development, and offer comfortable, healthy vision for all ages.

How old do I have to be?

There isn’t a minimum age for contact lenses (there isn’t a maximum one either), but your optician will want to be certain that you will follow the advice that they will give you. As long as you are old enough to understand that you have a responsibility to take care of your eyes, then you’re old enough.

What kind should I have?

This is where you need your optician. They will ask you about your life, hobbies, activities and health, have a good look at your eyes, and advise you on what kind of contact lenses would suit you best. They will then invite you back for regular checkups, to ensure your eyes remain healthy and well.
