The Royal College of Ophthalmologists launched the Sustainability Prize in 2016 to reward the poster at its Annual Congress which best addressed the triple bottom line of sustainable health care- social, environmental and financial sustainability. This year it has been sponsored by Bausch + Lomb, who have also helped start an active online sustainability network amongst ophthalmologists, allied healthcare professionals and industry.
There were 68 abstracts submitted for consideration of the prize, a huge increase on last year. This was reduced to 15 short-listed abstracts, all of whom received one of the coveted rosettes.
The winner,Mr Andy Cassels-Brown received a prize and certificate presented by Professor Carrie MacEwan, President of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Adele Brown from Bausch + Lomb at the Awards Ceremony in Liverpool on 24th May 2017.
